Costa Rica is home to 205 mammals species of which 6 are endemic. Some of the better known mammals found in Costa Rica include Howler monkeys, the jaguar, and the tapir. There are around 150 species of amphibians and more than 200 species of reptiles found in the country. More 850 species of birds and 1,000 species of butterflies live in Costa Rica.
