Northern Pacific Rattlesnake, Crotalus oreganus, in Big Basin redwood forest. The Northern Pacific Rattlesnake is the only poisonous snake found in the park. This individual was lying on the Berry Creek trail oath in the Redwood forest, though they are generally found in drier habitats. [This image was formerly tagged as The Western Diamondback]
